After four wonderful days in Oak Grove, Arkansas and Branson, Missouri., Sunday saw us back on the road again, heading for Merriam, Kansas and Nebraska City, Nebraska for a night each on the way to South Dakota.
Our stay at Merriam allowed us to explore Kansas City in both Kansas and Missouri as well as a cool area south of Kansas City, Kansas called Overland Park. We made the most of our time there and loved what we saw. Melody and I both really liked the feel of the city and we met some really nice people when we grabbed dinner at a local brewery. It’s not as humid as Arkansas, so it’s vaulted into first position on the “Places We Could Live” list.
Nebraska City is close to Omaha, which has a lot of cool kid activities, but since we were only staying for one night we decided to stay closer to the RV park. Luckily, the Missouri River BAsin Lewis and Clark Visitor Center was nearby and we had a great time exploring three levels of history and hiking the short trail down to the Missouri River behind the building. We were the only people there so the kids had full run of the place, which they loved.
Yesterday morning we packed up and headed towards Sioux Falls, arriving after lunch. We have a great site at the KOA complete with barbecue, fire pit and patio area. After swimming and playing mini golf at the campsite, we grilled and later roasted marshmallows around the campfire before bed. We’re here for a few days before heading to Mount Rushmore and Yellowstone for a few weeks.
It’s a short post today, so I’ll post some pictures for everyone!
